Like so many living in Johns Creek today, Swapna was not born here. Growing up in Mumbai, India, Swapna and her husband sought a life of opportunity for their children and became legal immigrants nearly fifteen years ago, and have been US citizens for the past five years. Although her Indian heritage is very important, Swapna has instilled in her children her own deep pride in being an American.
Nothing matters more to Swapna than family. She and her husband, Ravi, have been married for 22 years, and have a son and a daughter. Varun, age 20, was a 2009 graduate of Chattahoochee High School. He is currently a Junior at Georgia State, with a double major in pre-med and computer information systems. Vallari is a freshman at Chattahoochee High and spends her spare time baby-sitting and pet-sitting.
Swapna has been actively involved in her children’s schools and with the PTA at Abbott’s Hill Elementary. She is an Ambassador to new Indian Americans, helping over 500 families integrate into American culture. She is Secretary for the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, and has served as Treasurer for two consecutive terms with the local Toastmasters Club. As a member of the Johns Creek Leadership Team, she placed signage throughout the community with the “Crossing Over Johns Creek” project.
Swapna earned her first degree in Industrial Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. She went on to study Biomedical Engineering and now works as a Senior Biomedical Engineer in the Healthcare industry. She and her husband began a small software development company here in 1998. Growing a strong business and creating jobs for our community is a primary goal personally, as well as for their company.
